At our church, Park Community Church, we have a passion for our world-class city, Chicago. Chicago is an awesome place to live and to work, to enjoy and to raise our kids. In fact, I've referenced a list of superlatives that will help show you how incredible Chicago really is!

We love the city because we know that God loves the city and He has a redemptive plan for the city of Chicago. People often ask me if Chicago is important to God.  Cities are a critical element in God’s redemptive plan, because they are places of size and population density, centers of influence and commerce, and the gateway for those who are broken, in transition or in need. Given its preeminence as a global business and transportation hub, we believe that Chicago is one of the most exciting and strategic places to minister.

Tim Keller of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City has lead the thinking in this area and has influenced me greatly.  He has a series of articles on Ministry in the New Global Culture of Major City Centers (Part I, Part II, Part III and Part IV) that really get to the heart of the matter — cities matter to God.
